Here are some steps to get rid of mold in the attic:

Clean your attic:

You can get rid of mold by cleaning your attic with a sponge and a mold cleaner. Once you apply this to moldy areas, wipe it with a sponge. Bear in mind that mold cleaners give off toxic fumes, so keep the area well-ventilated.

Reduce the humidity in the attic:

By reducing the amount of humidity in the attic, you can get rid of mold here. You might like to do this by switching on the fans or air conditioners here.

Replace your cartons with storage containers:

If you use your attic to store unwanted stuff, you can now get rid of the cartons here and replace them with storage plastic containers. This will help you because cartons are prone to moisture. They are sturdier than cardboard cartons and not susceptible to humidity.

Is your roof leaking?

If you have a leaking roof, have it repaired right away because this is the No.1 reason for your attic leaking. Before you can actually bring in professionals to do the job, contain the problem of mold deposits by placing a pan or bucket below the leaky parts of your attic and prevent moisture from building up any further.

Seal all vents to prevent moisture from entering:

By shutting out the moisture in the attic you contain the problem and prevent any further mold from developing. Once you do this, you can start drying the mold that already exists. By drying the mold, you can neutralize them. For this, use a heater.

Clean mold with white vinegar:

Make a solution of white vinegar and water, sufficient to clean out your mold deposits. You can also use tea tree oil, which is fungicidal in nature. Pour the solution in an aerosol bottle and spray the mold with it.

Use a wet vacuum:

Eliminate all mold deposits in your attic by spraying a wet vacuum. After this, wipe mold surface with a damp sponge and see the difference.

By trying any or some of these methods of eliminating mold in your attic, you can have a clean home and be healthy too.
